Adani Green Energy and TotalEnergies Team Up for Massive Solar Project
Ahmedabad (Gujarat): Big news coming out of the renewable energy sector! Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) and TotalEnergies have just announced a new joint venture that will manage a whopping 1,150 MW worth of solar projects. This new venture will be equally owned by both partners.
World’s Largest Renewable Plant
According to Adani Renewables, these solar projects are part of what will be the world’s largest renewable energy plant, located in Khavda, Gujarat. This incredible project covers an area five times the size of Paris, spanning 538 square kilometers.
AGEL will contribute its current assets to this joint venture, while TotalEnergies is stepping in with a hefty investment of USD 444 million. This ambitious project underscores both companies’ commitment to accelerating clean energy initiatives in India.
A Strong Commitment to Clean Energy
This significant investment showcases the strong relationship between AGEL and TotalEnergies and their unwavering support for India’s transition to clean energy. It’s also a testament to AGEL’s proven capability in delivering substantial green energy projects swiftly and effectively.
The 1,150 MW of electricity generated from these solar projects will be sold through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), as well as on the wholesale market.
Massive Scale and Impact
AGEL is developing this gigantic renewable energy plant on a barren piece of land in Khavda, Gujarat. The site is already up and running with 2,250 MW of solar and wind energy capacity. Once fully operational, the plant will be a game changer, providing affordable clean energy to over 16 million homes in India. It is also set to create more than 15,200 green jobs and will prevent approximately 58 million tons of CO2 emissions every year.
Future Steps
The signing and completion of this massive deal are still subject to the usual closing conditions, including necessary regulatory approvals.
