Breaking News: Delhi Police Constable Fatally Stabbed By 3 Attackers in Govindpuri
A 28-year-old Delhi Police constable tragically lost his life after being attacked by three individuals while on a night patrol in Govindpuri, southeast Delhi.
Arrests Made
Two of the assailants were apprehended on Saturday – Deepak Max, 20, was caught after an encounter by the Crime Branch, while Krish Gupta, 18, was arrested by local police from the same area.
During Deepak’s arrest, he sustained a bullet wound in his leg as he opened fire at the arresting officers. He is currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital.
Gupta was later taken into custody by a team of local police.
Police Suspicions
Authorities suspect that the attackers were drug users involved in minor criminal activities.
Incident Details
The fatal encounter occurred when the three individuals, riding a scooter, attempted to target individuals or homes for theft. Constable Kiran Pal intervened, leading to a confrontation.
Despite the assailants’ attempts to flee, Pal managed to immobilize their scooter. In response, one of the attackers brandished a knife and fatally stabbed Pal.
Pal was rushed to Majidia Hospital but succumbed to his injuries upon arrival.
Previous Incidents
This incident follows similar tragic events, such as the stabbing of Assistant Sub-Inspector Shambhu Dayal in January and the dragging death of Constable Sandeep in September.
Government Response
Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently conducted a meeting with senior police officials to assess the law and order situation in the capital.
