Excitement Builds as Amarnath Yatra Registration Begins

Enthusiastic pilgrims lined up outside designated bank branches in Jammu on Tuesday to register for the upcoming annual Amarnath Yatra. The 38-day pilgrimage is set to begin on July 3 from the traditional Pahalgam and Baltal routes, culminating on August 9.

Registration Process

The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) has designated 540 bank branches across the country for advance registration, in addition to online registration on their website. Certain age and health restrictions apply, with no one below 13 or above 75 years old, and pregnant women with more than six weeks of pregnancy not eligible for registration.

Registrations are essential for all pilgrims planning to undertake the yatra. The process began with great enthusiasm among devotees, eager to secure their spot for the pilgrimage.

Pilgrims’ Excitement

Ajay Mehra, a local resident, expressed his happiness at the start of registration, eagerly awaiting the opportunity to visit the shrine with the naturally formed ice-shivling. Other pilgrims like Sham Lal Dogra and Asha Devi shared their anticipation for their respective visits, with some visiting the shrine for the first time.

College student Atika mentioned her family’s history of visiting the shrine and her excitement for her turn to pay obeisance. Kusum Gupta, part of a family group, expressed her desire to offer prayers at the shrine via the Baltal route.

Last year saw over 5.12 lakh pilgrims visiting the shrine, marking it as the highest turnout in 12 years.
