Breaking News: Shocking Details Unveiled in the Renukaswamy Murder Case
The document says actor Darshan and the other accused tried to destroy evidence
Bengaluru: The Karnataka Police have filed a chilling chargesheet in the highly publicized kidnap and murder case of Renukaswamy, implicating jailed Kannada superstar Darshan. The chargesheet reveals gruesome details about the inhumane torture inflicted on Renukaswamy before his death.
Horrifying Injuries
“After being assaulted by Darshan and his gang, Renukaswamy suffered broken chest bones and had 39 injury marks all over his body. He also had a deep cut on his head,” states the chargesheet.
Distressingly, it adds that the gang used a megger machine, an electrical device used to measure insulation resistance, to deliver electric shocks to Renukaswamy’s private parts. “Darshan and his gang used the megger device to damage Renukaswamy’s testicles,” the document further elaborates.
Inhuman Torture
A source close to the investigation revealed that Renukaswamy experienced levels of torture seldom heard of before being brutally murdered.
“After committing the murder, Darshan and the other accused exploited their influence and wealth to dispose of the body and attempted to destroy evidence. They also tried framing other individuals to evade charges,” the chargesheet notes.
Efforts to Cover Up
It further details how, with the intent to commit the crime, the gang destroyed physical, technical, and scientific evidence. Darshan, named as the second accused in the case, has a legal team preparing to submit a bail plea. However, police sources indicate that securing bail will be challenging given that Darshan faces three additional cases related to luxury treatment inside prison.
Evidence Mounts
Police found traces of Renukaswamy’s blood on clothes seized from Darshan and retrieved incriminating messages sent by his associates during the kidnapping, confinement, torture, murder, and subsequent disposal of Renukaswamy’s body.
Following the gruesome incident, Darshan traveled to Mysuru for the shoot of his upcoming movie, “Devil.” A Bengaluru Police team, led by ACP Chandan Kumar, apprehended him in a hotel after solving the case.
Tense Arrest
Sources recount that Darshan tried to resist the arrest, but ACP Chandan Kumar firmly instructed him to get into the police jeep or face severe action according to the rules.
The Kannada Film Industry’s Shock
Darshan, one of the few superstars in the Kannada film industry, has caused a significant setback with these allegations. The industry, which had been gaining national recognition, now faces a major crisis.
Charges and Accused
In the chargesheet, Pavithra Gowda is labelled as A-1, with Darshan as A-2. A total of fourteen individuals have been charged with murder, while 14 others face charges of abduction and murder. Additional suspects Karthik alias Kappe, Keshavamurthy, and Nikhil Nayak are facing charges of evidence destruction.
Volumes of Evidence
The chargesheet is extensive with multiple volumes:
- The first volume summarises the case.
- The second volume contains voluntary statements from 17 accused individuals.
- The third volume details both direct and circumstantial evidence.
- The fourth volume includes the post-mortem and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reports.
- The fifth volume comprises the FSL and CSFL analyses.
Next Steps
Sources indicate that after distributing copies of the chargesheet to all the accused, the case will be committed by the 24th ACMM court and transferred to the sessions court.
