Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh: The accident reportedly involved a speeding car that first collided with an e-rickshaw and then rammed into another car coming from the opposite direction. Eyewitnesses described the impact as so severe that one of the cars was thrown into a nearby pond.

Authorities and police quickly mobilized after receiving information about the crash, rushing to the scene to begin relief and rescue efforts. The injured were swiftly transported to the district hospital for immediate medical attention. Their conditions are reported to be critical.

Police Statement on Barabanki Crash

“A car collided with an e-rickshaw late night. When the police team reached the spot, a car which had fallen into a pond beside the road, was taken out and rescued people were immediately sent to the hospital. Police officials from Deva, Baddupur, Kursi, Fatehpur, Jahangirabad and Satrikh police stations are deployed at the hospital and at the spot,” said Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar Singh in a statement.

District Magistrate’s Comments

“Three vehicles met with an accident in which five people were killed. The condition of three people are critical and they are being treated in the district hospital. All those who died in the accident were residents of Umra village under Kursi police station area,” stated Barabanki District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examinations, and the police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.

Eyewitness Account of Barabanki crash

Local residents who witnessed the accident expressed their shock and horror at the scene. “The car was going really fast when it hit the e-rickshaw. It then collided head-on with another car. The impact was so strong that one of the cars went airborne straight into the pond,” a local villager said.

People passing by on the road also contributed to the chaos, with some vehicles reportedly running over the victims. This added to the gravity of the situation and made the rescue efforts even more challenging for the authorities involved.

Upon receiving the distress call, authorities swiftly moved into action. Multiple police stations including those in Deva, Baddupur, Kursi, Fatehpur, Jahangirabad, and Satrikh mobilized their resources to handle the crisis.
