Ms. Gudipudi took to LinkedIn to share the harrowing experience. She explained that her husband had booked Swiggy Genie to transport a backpack, which contained his laptop, from one office location to another in the Madhapur area of the city. Everything seemed fine initially, but during the transit, the delivery partner turned off his phone, and that’s when things took a dark turn.

“He basically stole the laptop, and initially, we thought it was partially our error for using Genie to deliver something so valuable. But what really shocked and scared us was how the situation escalated,” Ms. Gudipudi recounted.

Swiggy Genie Agent: The Mystery Unfolds

When the couple contacted Swiggy’s customer service, they were met with confusion. Swiggy couldn’t identify the delivery agent assigned to their booking and shared two different photos, asking which one had picked up the package. Ms. Gudipudi suspects that Swiggy’s system might allow individuals to register with ID documents and then enable others to use those credentials.

The most alarming part of the ordeal came next. The couple managed to reach the Swiggy agent via WhatsApp. The delivery executive claimed that his friend had used his login, saying, “I’ll check and get back to you.” Immediately after this interaction, the couple received a WhatsApp message from the same number, demanding Rs 15,000 to have the laptop delivered through another delivery service, Rapido.

Swiggy Genie Agent: Shocking Screenshots and No Response from Swiggy

Ms. Gudipudi didn’t stop there. She shared screenshots on LinkedIn that showed her husband’s conversation with the person asking for money. Additionally, she posted pictures of the man registered with Swiggy and another individual who had managed to log in through facial recognition.

To date, Swiggy has not issued any response regarding the incident.

Swiggy Genie Agent Public Outcry and Discontent

The incident, shared widely on social media, has sparked outrage among the public.

One user commented, “I regret the situation; however, the Swiggy team should take action and resolve it. Otherwise, the public’s trust, human ethics, and customer satisfaction have all decreased.”

Another echoed similar sentiments, “That’s horrible and absolutely unacceptable, Nishitha. ‘Middlemen’ companies like Zomato, Swiggy, Ola, Uber etc need to understand that focusing on security is extremely important for them.”

Highlighting a broader concern, a third user said, “In the hunger for growth, all these ride-hailing and food-delivery companies stopped enforcing KYC norms. I was amazed when a few months ago, one of their hub managers openly threatened me on LinkedIn for posting against the nuisance created by their riders, and the social media team.”

The Path Forward

This incident has raised serious questions about the security measures adopted by delivery service companies like Swiggy. As users depend on these services for convenience, lapses in security and incidents like this can significantly damage their trust.

While Swiggy remains silent on the matter, all eyes are on the company for a response and action. The public expects a robust system of checks and balances to be enforced, ensuring that such egregious violations do not occur in the future.

It remains to be seen how Swiggy will handle this controversy, and whether they will take the necessary steps to restore public confidence.
