Since the floods began on Monday, at least 24 people have tragically lost their lives. About 1.28 lakh people have been forced to seek refuge in 557 relief camps spread across the state, officials report.
Massive Damages
Landslides and Electric Posts Hit Hard
The chief minister revealed that the floods have triggered 2,588 landslides and damaged 1,603 electric posts. These figures highlight the extensive damage to the state’s infrastructure and the challenges ahead in restoring normalcy.
All-Party Meeting Yields Productive Suggestions
Following an all-party meeting, Mr. Saha said that leaders from major political parties have pledged to work together during this critical period. The meeting was described as productive, with suggestions for the state government to request a central team to assess the damage and seek additional assistance.
Political leaders also recommended increasing the financial aid for those affected by the floods. The state government has announced compensations of Rs 4 lakh for families of the deceased and Rs 2.5 lakh for those injured.

The Chief Minister emphasized that relief operations are in full swing. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has been directed to ensure that there are no unnecessary price hikes and assured the public of ample food and fuel stocks.
