A 22-year-old woman in Ahmedabad has been arrested for the alleged murder of her infant son. The woman, Karishma Baghel, reportedly threw her three-month-old son, Khayal, into an underground water tank because she was disturbed by his constant crying.
The incident came to light when Karishma claimed that her son was missing, and her husband filed a police complaint. After a search, the baby’s body was discovered in the water tank of their house. Police determined that the mother was responsible for the baby’s death and arrested her.
According to police inspector DB Basiya, Karishma had been emotionally and physically disturbed since her pregnancy. She often complained of health issues and expressed distress over her child’s crying. Her conflicting statements raised suspicion, leading to the discovery of the baby in the water tank.
An investigation was launched to determine how the baby ended up in the tank, as the structure made it unlikely for the baby to fall in accidentally. Karishma’s arrest was made on Monday night following the discovery of the infant’s body.
