Breaking News: Accused in Forgery Case Allegedly Secures Anticipatory Bail Using Fake Order
In a shocking turn of events, an accused in a forgery and copyright violation case has reportedly obtained anticipatory bail from the Bombay High Court by submitting a fake order with a forged signature of a Pune court judge. The accused, identified as Haribhau Chemte, managed to secure the bail in January and is currently evading authorities.
Details of the Case
The case dates back to 2022 when CTR Manufacturing Pvt Ltd, a Pune-based firm, filed a complaint after discovering that their patented drawings and designs were being unlawfully used by a company based in Chennai. Investigations revealed that employees of CTR, in collusion with officials from the accused company, were involved in the unauthorized utilization of these proprietary designs.
Haribhau Chemte, who previously worked in the quality control department at CTR Manufacturing, was allegedly implicated in the design theft, according to police sources. The Vimantal police in Pune registered a case in 2022 on charges of forgery and copyright violation, with Chemte being named among the accused.
Forgery of Court Order
According to a police officer, Chemte, whose anticipatory bail application was pending before the Bombay High Court, orchestrated a plan to deceive the court. He fabricated a court order under Section 169 of the CrPC, bearing the forged signature of a Judicial Magistrate, and submitted the fraudulent document to secure bail in January.
Section 169 of the Code of Criminal Procedure allows for the release of an accused if there is insufficient evidence to proceed with legal actions. The High Court granted Chemte anticipatory bail on January 17, based on the fake order.
Unraveling the Deception
The complainant in the original forgery case raised suspicions about the authenticity of the order, leading the high court to revoke the bail granted to Chemte and launch an investigation into the fraud. Subsequently, the complainant lodged a fresh complaint against Chemte at the Vimantal police station, who is currently on the run.
The Vimantal police registered a new case against Chemte on Tuesday under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including forgery, possessing a forged document, dishonestly making false claims in court, and cheating.
This alarming incident highlights the lengths to which individuals may go to evade justice and manipulate the legal system. Authorities are actively pursuing Chemte to bring him to justice and ensure that the rule of law is upheld.
