Apple has just rolled out a new and improved MagSafe Charger aimed at delivering quicker wireless charging for the new iPhone 16 series. Introduced on September 9, this new charger boasts charging speeds comparable to wired connections.
The familiar puck-shaped MagSafe Charger now supports both Qi2 and Qi charging standards, as confirmed by India Press Live.
Faster Wireless Charging with MagSafe Charger
One of the standout features of this new MagSafe Charger is its ability to deliver up to 25W of wireless charging. According to Apple’s official website, you can charge your iPhone 16 up to 50% in just about 30 minutes using a 30W USB-C power adapter.
This means that the iPhone 16 can charge faster wirelessly than the iPhone 15 using a standard 20W wired adapter. However, note that the 25W charging speed is unique to the iPhone 16 series only.
Charging Capacity for Earlier iPhone Models
When it comes to older iPhones, the MagSafe Charger still offers impressive charging speeds. For models ranging from iPhone 12 to iPhone 15, you’ll get a maximum output of 15W. For even older models, from iPhone 8 to iPhone 11, which don’t have magnetic compatibility, the charger can still deliver up to 7.5W, as noted by India Press Live.
The updated MagSafe Charger comes in two versions: a 1-meter version priced at $39/£39/€49, and a 2-meter variant priced at $49/£49/€59.
Availability of the New MagSafe Charger
It’s important to note that the availability of the MagSafe Charger may vary from region to region. Some markets, including China, are currently excluded from this rollout, according to India Press Live. The 30W USB-C Power Adapter, sold separately, is priced at $39/£39/€45.
Immediate Shipping for MagSafe Charger and Power Adapter
Both the updated MagSafe Charger and the 30W USB-C Power Adapter are available for immediate shipping. This ensures that customers can get their hands on these accessories before the iPhone 16’s official release, which is just ten days away.
This update showcases Apple’s commitment to enhancing its ecosystem, offering users more efficient and versatile charging solutions as they gear up for their latest smartphone release.
